Printing pictures from a digital camera has become very popular recently as the technology of both digital cameras and laser printers have improved enough where even amateur photographers can get great looking prints. Digital cameras have made taking pictures much easier as the updated technology minimizes the chances of a blurred or out of focus picture. Before you would have to wait until a photo was processed to know if it came out right but with digital cameras you can tell within seconds if you’ll need to re-take the shot.

Still, even with a top-of-the-line digital camera and a high quality laser printer there are areas you need to pay close attention to so as to avoid poor quality photo prints. One tip for getting prints from a digital camera is to always shoot at the highest pixel resolution. The more pixels you have the easier it is to print an 8 x 10 or other size photo print. If the pixel count is too low you won’t be able to get a clear image when you try to enlarge the picture because not enough pixels are present to create a sharp and vivid picture.

Inkjet printers work great with digital cameras and usually require roughly 200 pixels per inch to reproduce a high quality photo print. If you are planning on taking shots that will later be used to make 8×10 prints count on having between 1600 and 2000 pixels to allow sufficient room to capture the entire image clearly. For best results consider that an inkjet printer works best at 300 pixels per inch and higher so for a really great 8×10 photo print try sending pictures that measure between 2400 and 3000 pixels.

Another tip for getting better results when you print digital photos is to use high quality printing paper. High quality photo paper, such as archival quality paper is best since the paper is a higher grade stock and is made to last much longer than regular plain paper. Yes such paper does cost a bit more but it is well worth it if you plan on sharing the photos or framing for a keepsake gift.

If you are using special paper be sure to adjust the settings on your printer so it knows to make changes designed to optimize the output onto a higher grade paper. Most printers are set to a default that is for cheap, plain paper and if you do not change the settings the printer will assume the paper is standard and won’t compensate for the higher quality.

Another simple trick to making digital photo prints look even better is to add a decorative edge or border to the image. You can choose from basic templates or even design your own to custom match the photograph and with a stylish edge or border you can make an ordinary photo look extraordinary.

The amazing world of digital picture taking is ever-flourishing. There are literally hundreds of digital camera marks and models. Which type should you pick? Which one is best for you? We’ve got a few tips for purchasing a new digital camera that will make picking out the best one easy.

The 1st step in choosing your brand new camera is determining what you want to do with it. Are you going to be taking still shots, sports shots, or dark shots? Take these into thought because you need different features for each one. The kind of pictures you want to capture is the most essential factor to think about.. If you are going to be capturing low-light photographs, you want to go with a cam that has ISO features. The more ISO equivalents the camera boasts, the more options you’ll have for taking images in different lighting. A camera with the ISO equivalents 100, 200, 400, 800, and 1600 will give you all of the varities you need.

If you want to print your photographs you’ll want to look for a camera with modest resolution. Mega-pixels are mega-essential! The larger the amount of mega-pixels, the better the res of the pictures. Printing photographs that have a low res results in blurry and amateurish looking photographs. Make sure the printer you will use bears the resolution of the camera.

How large or how small the camera is, is another factor to think about. Take into consideration where you’ll be taking the camera. If you plan to use your camera frequently and take it with you much of the time, you may want to think about buying a smaller camera that will fit into your bag or shirt pouch. Think about the weight of the cam if you plan on taking it hiking or climbing. Cameras come in all weights and sizes so determining one that suits your demans won’t be hard.

Lastly, consider who will be utilizing the camera. If you are purchasing the digital camera for an avid photographer you might want to consider professional lenses and tripod choices. If you are purchasing the digital camera for a teen you might think about something lightweight and sturdy, while still stylish and modern. A traveller may be interested in more memory space for images, while a mom of young kids may be more interested with a camera that has rechargeable electric batteries so she will never lose a picture perfect moment.

The lens of the camera must be looked after and cleaned. It is important to clean your lens with great care, so you do not increase the dirt already on the lens. Your camera lens is very delicate. There are some rules to avoid damage to your lens when you clean it.

1. You must first remove any dust or grit that is stuck to your lens. Get a soft brush like a oil painting brush. Gently brush away any dust or grim. Do not be forceful here, as you are only trying to get rid of dust.

Not visible to the eye are small pieces of stone and grim that will cause small scratches on your lens and could ruin it. Always be gentle. If the lens get scratched you are in trouble.

2. Oils build up on your lens and brushing alone will not clean all off. A cloth needs to be used. I have found buying micro cloths they use for car detailing not to bad, however if you go to your local optometrist they normally will give you free some great soft cloths for cleaning glasses, these are ideal. Always wash the cloth between cleaning or use another one. I can not stress enough how one tiny particle of grit can damage your lens.

3. If you feel the lens has a build up of water soluble grim like sea spray or water soluble grim, I suggest buying distilled water that does not have harmful minerals in it. Always put the distilled water on the cloth not directly on your lens-less is better. Water seeping into the camera will spell disaster.

4. There will be a build up of oils that will need a stronger cleaner. At this stage you need a cleaner that is 100% alcohol base, never use turpentine or paint thinners or anything toxic, as your camera goes near your face and especially your eyes. I feel for a small cost go to your local camera store and buy a lens cleaner that is produced for the job. You want to make sure you look after your camera lens and not ruin it, you paid good money for your camera, so a few extra dollars spent on a specialized cleaner is worth it.

5. A tip I use is when I am in a windy area. Should I be on a sandy beach or when dust is in the air is to use a plastic shower hat. Reason I like those rather than a plastic bag is they have elastic to keep on your head and works so well to cover your camera in between shots, why expose that delicate lens to the element until you are ready to use your SLR camera.

Hope those small tips help to keep your camera in great condition and keep those perfect photos bashing out of your great camera-Look after your camera as it is a big investment.

In the growing world of digital photography new cameras with various high-tech features and settings appear on the market every day. For lovers of fast, easy photography it’s a virtual paradise — if you can manage to sift through the many choices and find a digital camera that’s right for you.

Most people with even a mild interest in digital photography are aware that SLR cameras are the cream of the crop. Digital SLR is a shortened version of the term digital single lens reflex, which means utilization of a mirror positioned behind the cameras lens to direct light toward the viewfinder as you’re composing a photo. When the shutter is released, the mirror moves out of the way allowing light from the lens to travel to the sensor and black out the viewfinder for a moment. The viewfinder employs a prism that turns the image around and bounces it onto the screen where it can be seen by the photographer.

SLR’s allow the photographer better and tighter control over the images that are produced in ways that a point and shoot digital camera cannot. With an SLR one is able to control shutter speed, utilize a wide variety of different lenses, enjoy an overall faster performance, and have access to great flexibility.

Unfortunately, the main disadvantage of digital SLR cameras is their price tag. With costs ranging anywhere from $300 all the way up to $2000 dollars it makes sense to compare all kinds of digital cameras carefully before making a purchase.

Most regular, working class people can’t afford to spend so much money on such a luxury item, which leaves point and shoot digital cameras. For people looking to capture everyday shots of their children, pets, or vacations, point and shoot digital photography is the perfect choice. It’s inexpensive, user friendly, and provides instant gratification.

As for people who want to take beautiful, artistic, perhaps even magazine quality photos but can’t afford an expensive SLR camera, there are many digital photography tips for a point and shoot camera that can help capture amazing images.

Here are a few points that will help budding photographers with macro photography, action shots, and photography portraits: read your camera manual from cover to cover; practice and understand focus lock and exposure lock (a feature of most all point and shoot digital cameras); use your flash to fill the darkest shadows with appropriate light; and for action shots, utilize the focus lock/exposure lock to pre-focus and then pan with the action as it passes before you.

You can find much more information about these methods in many online digital photography venues as well as inside your user manual. Even better, there are many inexpensive online digital photography classes in which to learn and a few that are offered free of charge.

Some of the most valuable digital photography tips revolve around choosing a camera. There are a wide variety of cameras available and tips for choosing the right camera can help to insure the photographer is satisfied with their purchase. Before getting started, it is important for the photographer to know what type of category they fall under. The categories include amateur photography, a hobby photographer, or a professional photographer. Knowing this category will help to narrow down camera choices. Also, because cameras range in size from large and bulky to small and portable, it’s important to debate quality versus portability.

When choosing a camera, first consider the different camera categories. Cameras are usually broken down into different groups: ultra-compact, compact, prosumer, hobbyist and digital SLR. Manufacturers like nikon, canon, kodak usually build units in several categories in order to encompass most of the market. The ultra-compact cameras are designed to be portable, while digital SLR cameras are designed for the professional photographer and come with options such as external lenses, flashes, and tripods which can make them bulky and a challenge to carry.

Of all the digital photography tips when it comes to choosing a camera, it is important to understand and pay attention to mega-pixel tips. The mega-pixel rating is one of the most important considerations. Cameras between 3 and 5 mega-pixels are good for everyday use and vacation cameras. These images are usually a good enough quality for scrapbooking and printing in a variety of sizes. Cameras from 5 to 10 mega-pixels are for the more serious photographer that want to explore photography as an art, preform picture manipulation with programs such as photoshop, flikr, and adobe photoshop, and to make large images. 10 mega-pixels and above cameras are usually reserved for the professional photographer that is paid to photograph events such as weddings.

The next of the digital photography tips for choosing a camera revolves around storage media. Cameras come with a wide variety of storage systems. Compact flash and SD cards are popular storage systems and are usually compatible with a wide variety of cameras. Storage cards range from 8MB all the way up to 32GB. So, when it comes to choosing a camera, keep in mind these digital photography tips and finding the best camera is certainly achievable.

If you love the sea and all the life underneath the waves then you may wish to invest in some form of diving camera. These products are great for taking some stunning pictures of the marine life and will amaze your friends and family. It is a wonderful way to capture some memories that you can keep for evermore.

There are many different brands and models to choose from when picking a diving camera. They basically have the same functions; the main difference you will find between them is the level underwater at which they can be used.

The cost of a diving camera will vary but it is possible to pick one up from as little as $50. If you are keen to start photographing underwater as a serious hobby or as a career, you may wish to opt for one of the more expensive models. These are durable and designed to last for a very long time.

Many people who are serious about underwater photography also invest in waterproof digital camera housing products. This clever device creates a waterproof seal around the camera and prevents it from being damaged under the water. It is worth noting that waterproof digital camera housing products are not universal; certain makes will only fit certain brands of cameras.

Whether you are looking for a diving camera or a waterproof digital camera housing case, you will be able to source many products online. There are many retailers who specialize in this kind of equipment and will be able to give you a lot of detailed information.

It is usually best to buy over the internet as you may qualify for a discount for orders over a certain amount. The retailer may offer free shipping or delivery. You will not have to wait too long for your package to arrive and it will be delivered to your doorstep.

If you are unsure about what model is best for you, you can find an abundance of guidance on many websites and forums that are dedicated to underwater photography. Many experts and amateurs have tried out many diving cameras and can tell you which are the best available on the market.

Purchasing a diving camera is a straightforward task as long as you have decided what your camera needs to be able to do for you and you establish how much you are willing to pay for such a product.

Over the past few years digital cameras has been among the hottest consumer electronic items on the Chinese electronic market. Today it is one of the most preferred electronic items available in the Chinese market. In recent years digital cameras has accounted the majority of all electronic product market in China. In fact, as per the recent survey and analysis of the high-tech product market research conducted by independent bodies reveals that digital still cameras were the most-owned type of camera. Adding to this, it is even projected that in next few years the ratio of buyers purchasing digital camera will increase. These few indication ensures that the product’s future definitely looks to be promising in China.

Today if we look at the current scenario of the Chinese electronic product there are many digital camera brands available at cheap price. The cheap cameras for both snapshots and professional photographic applications have become more and more popular now. As a result, today many people are searching for right kind of digital camera. Indeed, it won’t be wrong to state that the Chinese electronic market has been flooded with digital cameras, which in turn made the task of selecting a right camera a difficult process. It has become very confusing, so here are few important tips that may help you or any other individual who are seriously looking to purchase digital camera.

Always Read Online Reviews- Doing research before buying an electronic product like digital camera can always beneficial As you are looking to purchase a camera through online stores, you must not rely upon the advice of the helpful sales person who may or may not know anything about the camera. You must read some reviews in digital camera magazines or online that may help you narrow down the field. Today there are many great websites that give expert and user reviews on virtually every camera on the market. You must use such wonderful and free online resources.

Be Sure About Extras- Keep in mind as you look at cameras and the price quoted in any website may not be the final outlay that you need. So you must ensure about the variety of other extras that you might want to fork out for like – Camera Case, Spare Batteries, Re-charger, Filters or Reflectors. These days many online retailers bundle such extras with cameras or may try to give at least discount when buying more than one item at once. Always keep in mind, though that what they offer in bundles might not meet you needs.

Compatibility with Computer- It is very obvious that digital camera you purchased, probably you may like to use it with your home computer to email, store and print the digital photos. As a result, once again you must have to get acquainted yourself with the camera’s compatibility and memory information to ensure the camera and your computer are a good match. This information you can easily find on the boxes for the camera and its related software, or you may also ask the salesperson through online voice chatting or email.

Learn to Negotiate- After you have done all the research and selected the right digital camera for you, it is the right time to find the best price. Therefore, you must learn to negotiate. With good research and price knowledge, you are always in a position with any online store to negotiate on price factor. Though big online stores are more difficult and at times don’t give you the ability to negotiate but smaller ones may often allow if you email them.

Optical Zoom- Always go for optical zoom. Just like on a traditional film camera, the feature like optical zoom can allow you to have picture. It doesn’t matter, whether you are going through an online buying process or any other traditional process, you cannot ignore the feature like optical zoom in any digital camera. So, try to ensure that the zoom lens on a digital camera allow you to have a better close-up view of any object. When selecting a digital camera, choose one with optical zoom rather than just digital zoom.

Mega Pixels- This could be yet another technical aspect you cannot ignore. Though you are purchasing a product through an online process, but you need to make sure how many mega pixels you need in your camera. One major difference that you find among various models is the number of mega pixels a camera has. However, it is important to understand that higher the number of mega pixels, the better the quality of the photo image. Just in case, if you plan to share images by email and make prints up to size 5×7″, 2 mega pixels is sufficient. In addition to this, if you are looking to print professional-quality images in all sizes then you will require a 4 or 5 mega pixel camera.

No doubt, shopping for a new digital camera can be a lot of fun for any photography enthusiast like you. However, putting the fun part aside, your prime aim must be to purchase the digital camera that fits within one price range and at the same time contains all the vital functions you generally require to take the best of pictures. This does not signify that you need to compromise to the large extent and purchases cheap digital cameras that have least functions.

The influx of new models and brands of cameras in the market, as well as the widespread popularity of photo-sharing sites, has put photography back in the forefront of popular hobbies today. Indeed, many people, both young and old alike, are getting more and more interested in pursuing digital photography as a hobby as evidenced by the growth of the digital photography market, not to mention the increasing unit sales of camera phones.

Digital camera is the camera of choice for budding photographers for a number of reasons. One, while your average digital camera might be a tad more expensive than your average film camera, a digital camera is actually cheaper in the long run because you do not have to spend money buying films and developing them. Two, you spend less time worrying if you have a good shoot because you can see the pictures you took right away. Three, you don’t have to go to a camera store and have your pictures developed. Since pictures are saved on a memory card, it is so easy to save them into your computer and print them yourself. In the same manner, it is so easy to upload them on your preferred photo-sharing web site and share it with your family, friends and the rest of the world.

While new models and brands of digital cameras actually are always welcome, the sheer number of options available can be overwhelming for the novice photographer who is looking for his or her first digital camera. To help the novice photographer, here are some considerations in choosing your first digital camera.

oBudget – How much are you willing to shell out for your first digital camera? There are models from lesser known brands available for under $200.

oSize and weight – Do you want a camera that you can carry around in your pocket? Choose a compact digital camera.

oResolution – What kind of pictures are you planning to take? If you plan to take pictures of landscapes, sports movements, and nature, you are better off choosing a digital camera with a high mega pixel because it will produce clearer pictures. If you are just planning to take shots of your family, choose a camera with low mega pixels.

oOptical zoom. Many retailers emphasize the digital zoom of a digital camera when making a sale. Yet, digital zoom compromises the clarity of the picture. Choose a digital camera with a higher optical zoom because it will allow you to enlarge your pictures without sacrificing clarity.

oCameras modes — Digital cameras come with options for shooting pictures, including Night Mode, Portrait Mode, or Sports Mode. Ideally, you should choose one that offers many such modes so you do not have to adjust lighting and shutter settings.

oExtra features — Almost all digital cameras allow you to shoot videos and record audio to accompany pictures. However, some do not allow you to edit or crop pictures using the camera, or add caption to pictures. Decide which features you want.

Use the abovementioned criteria when buying your first digital camera. Happy shooting!

Family reunions, little league teams, birthday parties, and class field trips are just a few scenarios when many of us have tried and failed to get the perfect group shot that reflects the mood of the occasion. Where did we go wrong and how can we get the photographs we want with our own digital camera?

One option, although a bit pricey for “everyday” purposes, is to hire a professional photographer. I am assuming however that most people reading on this topic are hoping to learn the tips they need for getting better group shots with their own camera. Thus, here are some hints that can help:

Get set up.

People get impatient, tired, children begin to wander and fidget, and everyone’s smile begins to wither if they have to wait around while you select the perfect location, get your camera set up, rearrange your subjects, and so forth.

Be sure to find a spot that is large enough to accommodate the number of people you will be photographing.

Be sure there is adequate lighting. Open blinds, turn on lamps, and use additional light sources indoors. Outdoors, be sure that the sun is not directly in front of your subjects to eliminate squinting. Also be sure that the sun t is not directly behind subjects shining into the camera. The sun should be at a 45 to 90 degree angle to your subjects.

Know how you want to pose the group. More about this in a moment, but for now suffice it to say; figure out how you want to do it before the people arrive to be photographed.

Get your camera ready.

The camera should be on, set up on a tripod, and any settings selected.

Take charge.

Tell the subjects how you want them to pose. Arrange them and coach them through the process. Tell them where to face. Should they be looking at the guest of honor, the coach, the bride and groom, or the camera? Should they smile or be more relaxed? It depends on the type of look you want the photograph to have.

Get everyone arranged.

This will vary by the group size and the type of event. To assure the faces of both tall and short people alike can be seen, you will need to arrange carefully. Generally you want taller people in back and in the center. For large groups you may need to vary heights more: have some seated in front, some kneeling, and then those further back from the camera should be standing.

Pulling the group together will allow you to step closer and assure that faces can be seen. Having the group stand shoulder to shoulder, all facing the camera can look very stiff and also makes it difficult to get close enough to see any detail. It is better to curve the rows and use various heights to bring the group in to a narrower range and allow faces to be seen in the photograph as you get closer to the group.

Arranging groups on stairs and shooting from above the group looking down are two ways of fitting the group into a tighter pattern. Another technique is to angle everyone 45 degrees facing slightly in toward the center of the group to get very large groups organized in a smaller pattern.

Know how and when to shoot.

With groups you will definitely want to take multiple shots to be sure you get at least one or two pictures that are “good” of each individual. Take these rapidly; pros use burst mode. One way to improve your chances of eliminating shots with closed eyes is to instruct subjects to close their eyes and then on the count of 3 to open their eyes and smile. Another important consideration is to take the group shot before the very end of any event (excluding, of course, group shots such as a game victory, etc.) This will assure that everyone is present and not exhausted.

One camera, one photographer technique

One final consideration involves an issue I frequently encounter when family reunions occur or multiple parents are involved with an event. A group shot is orchestrated but it takes a half an hour for everyone to get the shot they want with their camera. There is time involved in both setting up each camera in the preferred location and, in some instances, time for the person taking the photograph to run to and from the group as the photographer/subject role changes.

The best method is to allow one person to take all photographs with a single camera and then, thank goodness for digital cameras, e-mail all photographs to everyone present.
